I got tired of seeing a lot of people fighting on what is better, so here is my opinion (WFH vs Office)
Lately I’ve been seeing a lot, and I really mean a lot of people (specially on Linkedin) complaining about both approaches. People who likes to go to the office are arguing that WFH is for lazy people meanwhile WFH people are saying that going to the office is a waste of time… I think both are wrong.
We live in a planet with 7.753 billion of people with different personalities and different ways of working and having a preference for one or another has nothing to do with being more or less productive, it has something to do with your personality.
Not a long time ago, I finally understood the difference between introverted and extroverted people and it relays on how both of them recharge energy not on the lack of social skills.
An extroverted person usually recharge batteries and feel better and more energetic when they are around people, for example, by going to the office and hanging out with friends meanwhile introverted people do it by just being alone.
Me, as a introverted, I enjoy a lot working from home, as I don’t have distractions and people talking around me, which allows me to get focus easier but also it gives me the opportunity to workout before starting my day without the need of running to get in time to the office. To be honest my quality of life improved since I started working remotely. This doesn’t make me a lazy or asocial person, it is just me being introverted.
But we also have those people who, instead of feeling productive from home, they feel the opposite and it is completely valid. Extroverted people waste energy by being alone, they need social interaction to feel good. People from my team loves working at the office and it is fine. When I have activities that doesn’t require a lot of concentration, I join them in the office and enjoy that time.
Stop fighting for which approach is the best and start empathising with people who enjoys working in a different way than yours. You can always learn from then and I’m pretty sure they can learn from you!
